Transportation and Communication Secretary of Philippines has called to make the SMS service free for the
public as lot of people using it as an expensive service. House of Representatives will see the matter and will
decide on it as they feel it is very essential for the public.
They are planning to request the service providers from charging for the text messages (SMS) and will check
whether it is legal to charge for the service they provide to the public.
Philippines is one of the leading country in the world for sending and receiving SMS text messages through
the mobile phones. People heavily depend on text messages for sending and receiving short messages as it
is cheaper then calling the mobile phones.
