Send SMS, MMS, call and receive calls through Airtel mobile service in Sri Lanka. Yes, Airtel has launched its service in Sri Lanka under the company name Bharti Airtel Lanka(Private) Limited. It was launched in Sri Lanka on January 12th 2009 as the 5th mobile phone service provider.
Already nearly 21 Airtel stores in the island are issuing choice number booking form to people who want to reserve their desired numbers along with the Airtel's 0757. According to the instructions people can request 5 desired numbers. On 12th of January the Airtel Sims can be collected with the desired numbers if available at those stores where you had submitted your forms.
If you requested for any numbers it must be collected no later than 20th of January 2008.On 6th and 7th of January young people were seen at many of these stores rushing to submit their choice number booking form.
SMS rate from Airtel Sri Lanka will be Rs.1/- per message + tax.
Out going calls will be Rs.2.00/min to any network, which also includes Airtel to Airtel. All incoming calls are free. Rupee wise it will cost one rupee for a text message + tax, this package for monthly rental of 300 rupees.
The same tariff applies to post paid while the new company has waived the 50/- Rs monthly rental for 3 months. Also in the first month they offer free Rs 100/- worth of call time for this prepaid package.
Also for the pre-paid customers, you can reload simply for any amount you desire at any Airtel reload shop. There are Recharge cards for Rs,20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000.
According to Airtel if you loose your SIM, you may report your lost SIM by making a personal visit to any of their Airtel office or.exclusive Outlets or Brand shop’s and receive a replacement SIM.
In Sri Lanka they are offering BlackBerry 8320 and BlackBerry Bold locked to Airtel. What means it locked to Airtel? That is the phone will not work with other carriers like Dialog, Mobitel, Tigo and Hutch.
So in the near future you can expect iPhone locked to Airtel?
