

Tigo mobile and SMS text message service provider has been bought by Etisalat a UAE-based company with a global presence in 2010.Tigo was previously had the name Celltel.
Etisalat Sri Lanka mobile phone service provider allow you to send and receive SMS messages their customers mobile phones. The service allows customers to send local and international messages and allow them to receive local and international messages to their mobile phones.
There are four more mobile phone service providers other than the Etisalat. They are namely Dialog, Hutch, Mobitel and Airtel.
Etisalat is now having more than 2.5 million active customers. And there are post paid and pre-paid packages for the customers to choice. There packages have per second billing and totally incoming free service. These packages are coming with free incoming SMS facilities. In post paid SMS between Etisalat phones are Rs.1/- also Etisalat to non Etisalat phones are Rs.1/- each. IDD SMS text messages are charged at Rs 5.
There is no web based SMS sending facility available at the Etisalat website. But there is Messenger Etisalat which is an instant messaging application that can give you the possibility to chat with your public network contacts and Etisalat SMS contacts.
Sinhala SMS text messages.
Etisalat allows you to send pre-designed SMS text messages in Singhalese language for the Sinhala speaking people. Your mobile phone should be compatible to access this Sinhala SMS text service. Once are a client of the Etisalat send the following syntax (Syntax:: sin<xx> - xx - represents the allocated number for the relevant picture) to 900 to receive. Sinhala SMS text service is also available in your SIM STK menu for easy access.
