
Junk SMS in China is defined by the Internet Society of China which as "Junk SMS are messages which are sent to a user without his or her consent and cannot be rejected by the receiver. They mostly include commercial messages
sent without the receiver's consent, advertisements, etc."
They made "User Handbook on Sending SMS" and "SMS Service Standards." With the help of big businesses,
service providers, industry experts, lawyers, and other parties who are concerned. Also they have made a Anti-Junk
SMS Union to protect innocent customers from those Junk SMS Senders, who use to send it in bulk.
They defined it in 13 sections as illegal and harmful SMS.
Here are two of them.
"violating the basic principles of constitutional law,"
"harming national honor and interests,".
In China nearly half of it's population owns mobile phones. According to reports 592 million mobile phones are in use in May 2008. And it is growing faster in numbers as the mobile phones are at reasonable price for the average person to purchase one. Recent quake victims of China were donated with 14.4 million U.S. dollars by Chinese mobile phone users using SMS text messages.
