Those who are using Mobitel mobile phone service in Sri Lanka to make and receive calls and send and receive short messages as SMS must re-register their identity in the nearest mobitel service centre.
This is to meet the orders according to the latest requirement by the telecommunication authority. At the Mobitel service centre the customer must fill the required information about him/herself along with the NIC number. If the customer is a foreigner must give the passport number. Then they will be photographed by the staff of the center. A 3 months valid "Temporary Mobitel Identification Certificate" will be issued.
The mobile phone service provider will later provide a permanent photo identification certificate within the three months period. If you are a Mobitel user who uses to send and receive SMS or communication facility through them visit the nearest mobitel centre and register yourself.
