In Sri lanka new regulation is going to be introduced for the mobile phone users. A mobile phone user must always carry
the phone service provider's papers to proof that he is the owner of the connection. For example if you are coming from
a foreign country you can get a Dialog sim connection easily by producing your identification paper.
But don't borrow a sim from a relative or a friend to use while you are staying there. According to the new law the security personal can ask for your identification and the proof of the ownership of the mobile phone. If you fail to provide the ownership it may be a punishable offence.
So don't think that you can send SMS message with another friend's or relative's mobile
phone while you are in Sri lanka. Better to take your mobile phone's original purchase receipt too with you. And
purchase a new Sim on your name, when you are leaving don't give it to other people, keep it with you. Also if your
minor children are using their own mobile phone don't forget to give them a letter saying that you allowed them to use
the phone. And ask them to carry it with them.
Oh, yes Sri lanka have the 3G mobile phone service system, where you can interact with your multimedia phone.
