Sri Lanka Immigration and Emigration department will inform to the passport applicants via SMS short text message service once their passport is ready for collection. The service will be provided by the SLT through their Mobitel cellular phone service.
When the passport applicant is handing over the application form to the department, if he provides his/her mobile phone number in the application form, he/she will be informed by the SMS service once their passport is ready for collection,. This sms service is expected to reduce the applicant’s time, travelling and money wastage. The message will be sent from Mobitel to any mobile service providers in Sri Lanka like Mobitel, Dialog. Hutch, Tigo or Airtel.
Sri Lanka Immigration and Emigration department used to handle thousands of new passport applications, renewals and alterations daily in their Borella office. Sure this will help Sri Lankan citizen a lot.
