Mobile phones and SMS text messages are banned in Sri Lanka schools. According to Srilanka Education Ministry they have banned mobile phones in Sri Lanka schools to create a well disciplined student population in the country. This will bar the students from calling or receiving calls or sending or receiving SMS text messages in the schools. The Government has planned to install card and coin phones. These kinds of phones are not suitable for sending and receiving SMS text messages for the students.
The Srilanka students are very fond of MMS and they use it through their 3G enabled smart phones. This may also affect the revenue of the Srilanka mobile phone carriers.
