SMS text messages for the New Year sent through the mobile phones reached a higher level this year all over the world. Also millions of greetings were sent through web based Free SMS text messages and VoIP too did their part to the customers to send and receive greetings along with their families and friends. Mean while in Sri Lanka one leading mobile phone operator went off at 00.00 hours as it was unable to handle as most of its customers mobile phones tried to greet each other.
As usual the highest number of SMS was sent by the Philippines followed by Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan. In the New Year Greetings MMS too took its part as many mobile phone users did sent them who have MMS enabled mobile phones.
