Sri Lanka Government announcement on mobile phone IMEI.
Sri Lanka Government made an special announcement that those mobile phones which are used to communicate in the island nation for calling or sending and receiving SMS text messages must have their own IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) serial number. The mobile phones which don't have own IMEI numbers are banned from today. If you want to check your mobile phone's IMEI number type*#063# and press the call button. You will get your mobile phone's International Mobile Equipment Identity.
The same mobile phone user rule was recently passed in India too to prevent illegal Chinese mobile phone market and to safeguard the nation's security.
